It may have been a cold, wintry day in Washington, but that didn’t stop Robotic Assistance Devices (RAD) from visiting the corporate security team at Microsoft to showcase the SMP Robotics S5 Security Guard. Two security robots made their debut to the Microsoft team, demonstrating autonomous unmanned ground vehicle that leverages advanced navigation, obstacle avoidance sensors and intelligent mechanics to support traditional manned guard services. The robotic solution offers corporate campuses, such as those similar to Microsoft, a wide variety of safety and operational benefits including:

  • Streamlined operations
  • Reduced liability
  • Advanced artificial intelligence

The Microsoft team was impressed with the capabilities of the SMP S5 Robot because its serves as a force multiplier and removes security personnel from potentially dangerous situations, reducing liability. Robotic guards are extremely cost-effective — approximately 50 percent less per hour than traditional guard services. The combination of human personnel with robotic technologies creates a strong value proposition that results in new levels of security and streamlined operations. This was the final robot demonstration prior to the upcoming four-robot/two-site deployment scheduled for late April. RAD was able to demonstrate integration with the Microsoft’s Azure platform and introduce the security robot to more of the corporate security group.
