We are profoundly saddened by the passing of one of our own, Jess Gilman on Thursday, January 11th. Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife, Rhonda, and children, Aaron, Rebecca and Nathan, during this time.
Jess joined the RAD team after being captivated by our mission, team and culture. He had retired from the Costa Mesa Police Deparment after 28 years and saw the opportunity with RAD as a way to continue helping organizations achieve new levels of safety while having fun with technology along the way. He brought graciousness and humor into the office each day, and he will be greatly missed.
He began his career at the Baldwin Park Police Department in 1986. Two years later, he joined the Costa Mesa Police Department, where he stayed until he retired in October 2012. He spent 12 years in Costa Mesa as a school resource officer (SRO), watching over elementary, middle and high school students. After his retirement, the police department didn’t have enough staff to fill the SRO slot, so in 2013, he again assumed the role at Estancia and Costa Mesa high schools until 2014.
Jess was one of the highest character people I’ve had the pleasure of working with and he made significant contributions during his tenure with RAD. His creative input and advice, as well as his warmth will be absent from the RAD offices but will never be forgotten. It was an honor to share time with him. Rest in peace, Jess.
