Girls Robotics Team ‘Coding Queens’ Wins Design Award at Vex IQ Worlds

Robotic Assistance Devices (RAD) is proud to announce that all-girls robotic team, the Coding Queens, won the design award at the Vex IQ Robotics World Championship last month in Kentucky. The team also finished second out of four in the division finals. RAD is a proud sponsor of the Coding Queens team, and has helped fundraising efforts for the team to reach the international level.

The 10th annual competition was broken down into programs based on grade level, and all around hosted 1,400 teams from over 30 nations worldwide. The event aims to celebrate STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) education and the teamwork and dedication of the participants.

The Coding Queens – comprised of fifth-grade students Adalee Geiss, Gabriella Backus, Lily Placey, Maryan Malkosh, Riley Divel, and Sophia Mantucca – are led by Nona Reimer and Yazan Malkosh and attend John S. Malcolm Elementary in California.

“On behalf of myself and RAD, we could not be happier for the Coding Queens,” said Steve Reinharz, CEO, RAD. “I’m thrilled that we had the opportunity to support these girls and their desire to excel in the STEM and robotics fields.”
Congratulations, Coding Queens!
